Admissions Requirements
Writing Sample
A writing sample is required as part of the application and can be a term paper, senior thesis, master’s essay, or a collection containing several examples of written work. While there is no page limit, most applicants submit 20-40 pages.
Statement of Purpose
Applicants should indicate their research interests and potential advisors in the Statement of Purpose.
Personal Statement
Please describe the personal experiences that led you to pursue graduate education and explain how these experiences will contribute to the academic environment and/or community in your program or Harvard Griffin GSAS. These may include social and cultural experiences, leadership positions, community engagement, other opportunities, or challenges. Your statement should be no longer than 500 words.
Standardized Tests
The GRE is optional.
